Watch and Pray [Meeting on Zoom]

Led by Joe Strake

Start Date:  June 21, 2020

Open to men and women

Sundays at 4:00pm [On Zoom]

Do you know the most given imperative (ie command) in the New Testament? The Greek work is "gregoreo." In English, it is simply the word "watch". In this series we look at the context of this command in the New Testament and Old Testament. Predominantly however, we will be reviewing weekly current events/news stories and how they relate to the Bible, prophecy, this command, and our responsibility as Christ followers. Both the class and instructor will bring news stories to question, investigate, and discuss based upon a Scriptural point of view. This series will require high participation and class engagement.

Digging Deeper

Led by Chad Anderson and Dan Steiner

Start Date: June 6, 2020

Saturdays at 7pm in the Fall Creek Pavilion (until KIDS church and nursery becomes available again)

Each time we use the Scripture that Pastor John preaches from. We break it down conversationally and relationally. Pastor John delivers a lot of great, thought-provoking messages that keep our discussion each week lively and heartfelt. We will dig into the Scripture a little deeper and discuss how it applies to our lives. We will also focus on relationship building as we strive to be encouraged by each other's faith, support one another, and lift each other up. Join us each week to unpack the Word of God as preached from the heart of our pastor.

How To Read, Understand, and Apply the Bible

Led by Pastor Clayton Knight

Start Date: June 2, 2020

Open to men and women

Tuesdays at 6:30pm in the Fall Creek auditorium

We all know that Christians should be reading the Bible, but few things seem more challenging. We may begin with good intentions, but a few pages in we can find ourselves discouraged, confused, and ready to give up. It's true that the Bible is a big book with lots of weird names and strange sounding places. It's also true that the Bible is a complex literary work containing lots of different genres. This Growth Group is meant to train you to "play by the rules" so you can make sense of whatever biblical book you're reading and learn how to better apply its timeless message to your life. This group will be slightly more instructional than conversational. But we'll still have intentional time set aside in each session to apply, ask questions, and discuss the interpretive concepts that we're learning. Come ready to put in a little work, but also expectant to learn and grow!

Note: A Visual Guide To The Bible by Tim Challies and Josh Byers is a required book to help supplement the teaching material in this Growth Group. You can order that here.

Contending For the Faith in Today's Culture [Meeting on Zoom]

Led by Marla Ringger

Start Date: June 10-July 22, 2020

For women only (A workbook is available for teen girls too)

Wednesdays at 9:45am-11:30am on Zoom

This study by Jackie Hill-Perry walks through Jude--a short, often-neglected book of the Bible. The book of Jude remains as relevant as ever. It reminds us that God has commanded us to do the necessary work of contending for the faith in a world of unbelief, and as we do, He will keep us from falling into the same deception. In this 7-session video/workbook format, we'll watch short videos each week and discuss the workbooks in breakout groups.

Get Out Of Your Head [Meeting on Zoom]

Led by April Reynolds and Delores Clark

Start Date: May 5, 2020

For women only

Thursdays at 7pm on Zoom

Are your thoughts holding you captive? I’ll never be good enough. Other people have better lives than I do. God couldn’t really love me. Jennie Allen knows what it’s like to swirl in a spiral of destructive thoughts, but she also knows we don’t have to stay stuck in toxic thinking patterns. Our enemy is determined to get in our heads to make us feel helpless, overwhelmed, and incapable of making a difference for the kingdom of God. But when we submit our minds to Christ, the promises and goodness of God flood our lives in remarkable ways.

Women's Summer Book Club

The Women's Ministry team has chosen The Sons of Isaac as the summer read.  The book can be either obtained by ordering a paperback or an ebook on the Moody website at moodypublishers.com.  Currently the book is on sale at 75% off and even with shipping this makes it lower than Amazon. The book is biblical fiction but is grounded in God's biblical history written by Roberta Kells Dorr.  It begins with God telling Rebekah that she will bear Isaac twin sons. Please obtain your own book and begin reading.  A book discussion date will be set for late August (if possible due to Covid19) to discuss the book at an outside location.  Please email Tameria O'Dell to let her know you are participating so that you can be on the list and she can send the date when decided.
